Cedar Plank BBQ Salmon

1 2lb piece of salmon
1 cedar plank
2 tbsp grainy mustard
2 tbsp ketchup
2 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp fresh rosemary (or 1/2 tbsp dried)
1/2 tsp chili powder
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/2 tsp liquid smoke

  • combine mustard, ketchup, oil, rosemary, chili powder, pepper and liquid smoke and mix well
  • spread over salmon; generously and marinate ideally 2 hours (at least 30 minutes)
  • pre soak the cedar plank for at least 2 hours; ¬†place the soaked cedar plank on the BBQ and leave for 3-4 minutes until you can smell the cedar (or see smoke!)
  • turn the plank and place the salmon on the plank, skin side down if you are cooking it with skin on
  • close the BBQ and cook on medium heat for 20 minutes (white juices of salmon will be visible)
  • remove from plank by leaving the skin behind on the plank
